Looking for This Is Who I Am?

Taken by surprise by the enduring popularity of This Is Who I Am, writer and poet LaDonna Witmer never guessed her 8 minutes on stage would ever be seen outside the room she spoke in, let alone circulated around the world for more than 10 years.

In February of 2007, invited by the Rev. Mike Stonbraker, LaDonna traveled to Wesley United Memorial Church in Decatur Alabama to deliver the long-awaited follow-up to This Is Who I Am.

The new essay, titled Sunday Morning Misfit, goes beyond generational issues to take an in-depth look at why more and more people are leaving the church. LaDonna speaks for nearly an hour about her own journey away from the organized American church.

Sunday Morning Misfit also features a cinépoem (cinematic poem) of the same name, and includes interviews with six of LaDonna's friends who offer their own unique perspectives on their experiences in the churches they grew up in or the churches they now attend.
